Classic, unified identity for The Design Establishment, a collaborative studio brand.
Context
The Design Establishment was a small collective I co-founded with friends while sharing an office in Clerkenwell, London. We created the brand as a shared identity to pitch and collaborate on larger projects under one name.
Role
Co-founder and lead designer
Goal
Craft a professional, credible brand that conveys unity while celebrating the collective’s creative spirit.
Challenge
We needed a brand identity that could feel established and trustworthy enough for bigger clients, while still expressing the creativity and independent spirit of a small team.
Approach
I designed a classic emblem featuring a dove wearing a knight’s helmet, symbolising both peace and boldness, a balance we wanted our brand to embody. The traditional serif typography added a sense of heritage and gravitas, helping the collective feel more like an established studio.
Outcome
A distinctive emblem that gave the collective a single, recognisable face for pitches and proposals
Successfully elevated the perceived credibility of the team, enabling us to compete for larger, more prestigious projects
Provided a unifying visual identity without overshadowing individual collaborators’ own brands
